Ok so i usually am not a fan of christian rap. in fact i think its tacky and cheesy as hell. All it is are fundamentalist "kids" telling us their religious views. Frankly i find it embarrassing being a christian knowing these are the people spewing their perversion of christianity on radio waves. like KJ 52 "praying" for eminem cuz he isnt being a good enough christian. what the hell is that?? How about telling us we're going to hell if we listen to "secular rap" like biggie. Just cuz he sold more than theyll ever hope to sell.
Christian rap is such a joke for that reason and because the lyric content is so limited to God, and Jesus and it all starts to sound the same eventually. Jesus this, savior that. i can pray another day cuz jesus' here to say..blah blah. Whereas "secular rap" can be about sooo much more. Such as; relationships (em), racism, poverty (tupac), life, comedy and much more. but enough about what i dont like about christian rap (i could make a whole blog just on that), after saying all of that, i came across a song the other day that for the sake of this post "blew my mind." now not really but i thought it was really good. A friend showed it too me. Its called "invasion" by Trip Lee. A christian rapper. i really liked it, and it is the only christian rap song that i actually like. so here it is:
